January 2023: Wrought with a Careful Hand: Delaware Schoolgirl Samplers
Speaker, Cynthia Steinhoff, Director of the Library of Anne Arundel Community College, talked about needlework samplers made by Delaware schoolgirls from late 1700s to mid 1800s; and their impact on genealogy.
February 25, 2023: Migration Trails Across America
Speaker, Peggy C. Lauritzen: AG, FOGS, Author and Instructor, Fellow of Ohio Genealogical Society described that the safest and easiest way to move one’s families may not have been the migration trails and roads that we have become most familiar with. Roads and trails are the “go-to” places we look at first when determining how our ancestors moved throughout America. However, there were other means of transportation available to them. Could your ancestor have traveled other by-ways?
April 2023: Beginning Your Genealogy Journey
Speaker, Cheri Hudson Passey: Carolina Genealogy Girl, Certified Genealogist, gave an excellent presentation on how to start your genealogy research, what records to look at, and how to organize your paper and digital files.
May 2023: Navigating the National Archives
Speaker, Julie Miller: Certified Genealogist, Certified Genealogical Speaker, Fellow of National Genealogical Society described how to navigate the National Archives and also Regional Archives for records held by the U.S. Federal Government. She described the procedures necessary to visit the Archives, as well as accessing the records online.
