Membership Frequently Asked Questions

Membership Dues

Annual dues are payable on the member’s anniversary date. Continued membership and its privileges are contingent on being up-to-date with membership dues for all categories of membership: regular, family, contributing and institutional. Here are a few FAQs that explain how our membership process works.

What is an Anniversary Date?

DGS is on an “anniversary date” basis for membership. This is similar to joining a health club or subscribing to your local newspaper – it begins when you join/subscribe and typically goes for one year.

I am ready to join. What does this mean to me?

As a new member, your membership will be effective on the day you join and last for 12 months (plus a 30-day grace period).

Will we get a renewal email a month before the due date?

Yes, we will send notifications to those members whose membership is about to expire.

Pay By Check

DGS offers an online pay-by-check function. This allows you to register or renew online without filling out a form. You print the confirmation of your order and mail it with a check to Delaware Genealogical Society, 505 N Market Street, Wilmington, Delaware. 19801-3091. Once DGS receives the order form with the check, we will mark your account as active, speeding up the process of generating your account. Follow the instructions on the How to Join and Renew page.

If you still need the paper form, you can download it here.
