Speakers
- Tom Summers, Coordinator of Public Programming Delaware Public Archives (Little Known Genealogical Resources of the Delaware Public Archives)
- Tom is a native Delawarean, born and raised in Milford. His family has been in Delaware for over 300 years. He graduated from Milford High School in 1979 and from Washington College (in Chestertown, MD) in 1983 with a Bachelor of Arts in History and earned a Masters of Education in Elementary Studies from Wilmington College in 1995. Tom served four years in U.S. Navy as an air traffic controller, 1985 - 1989 and has worked for the State of Delaware since 1990. Tom won the SAA's Hamer Kegan Award in 1999 for the education kit Teaching Delaware History with Primary Sources. He lives in Dover with his wife Debbie and three kids.
- Tom Doherty, PhD (Finding Delaware Ancestors)
- Tom was President of DGS 1995-1998 and is currently on the Board of Governors. He is a professional genealogical researcher, author of the best-selling
Delaware Genealogical Research Guide and the project leader for the
Delaware Families 1787-1800 project and the Tax Transcription Project. Tom has also taught genealogy at the University of Delaware. He has been published in the Delaware Genealogical
Society Journal.
- F. Edward Wright (Researching Colonial Families of the Delmarva: Some Pitfalls and Tips)
- Ed has been researching families of the Delmarva Peninsula for the
past 30 plus years, beginning with his Wrights, Broadways, Coopers and
others. As ownerof Family Line Publications in the 90s he published the
works of over 50 compilers working on genealogy source books in the
mid-atlantic area. Uppermost in his efforts have been the reconstruction of
families of the Delmarva during the Colonial period, having now published 12
volumes of families of the Delmarva. Since selling his genealogy publishing
business in Westminster in 1999, he has concentrated on the lowever
Delmarva. Ed began his family history research while completing 20 years with the
Navy, after graduating from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1956. He is married to
Barbara Epler of Wildwood Crest New Jersey and is father of three girls who
live in the MD/VA area and grandfather of three more girls.
- Doug Wenny (Getting Started on your Family Tree)
- Doug has served over 9 years on the DGS Board of Governors, first as Vice-President (1981-82), then President (1983-84) and currently as Treasurer. He published (1955) on the descendants of Jacob Drill, Frederick Co. MD. He taught French for 31 years. He has taught "Getting Started on your Family Tree" at DGS workshops since 1987; volunteered on genealogy projects including Delaware Gazette Abstracts, Kelso project, and is currently indexing the 1859 Kent Co. DE Map by person, creek, tract, building and town.

- Jack Lewis, DC, CCSP (DGS Workshop Chairman)
- Jack is a charter member of the DGS and served on the Board of Governors
for ten years, including two years as President. His wife, Nancy, was
secretary of the Board for seven years and elected Board member for one year.
He writes the "Computer Corner" for the DGS newsletters. He is an eighth generation Kent Countian and is currently preparing a Lewis family history for publication. He founded the Caesar Rodney Chapter of the Sons of the American
Revolution in Dover and is the State SAR Vice President for Kent County. His
two sons are members and a grandson is a Life Member of the SAR. He has been a registered Scouter for 54 years (seven years as a Scoutmaster and four years as District chairman) and is the recipient of the Del-Mar-Va Council's Silver Beaver Award. He has two Eagle Scout sons and three Eagle Scout grandsons. He is retired from State of Delaware service."
