JOHN ENOS, son of Joseph and Jane (STORIE) ENOS, was born about c1750 [WillsNC L:259
in CalenNC 97] died intestate 22 Jan 1815 in Glasgow, Pencader; his estate was not
settled until 1838 [OrphNC Q1:480]. He married Jane ______ c1777 [1st child] and married
second Rebecca MOORE 9 Feb 1788 in New Castle [Immanuel 2332]. In 1779 John, a
NewCastle farmer, loaned 30 bushels of corn to American forces [MilArDE 4:1177].
With Archibald ALEXANDER [see his entry], who later became his brother-in-law, John
bought a messuage & tanyard in NewCastle 21 May 1779 and sold it 28 Dec 1784
[DeedsNC F2:264]. [sig:1784]
Parents: Joseph ENOS, son of Richard & Anna (CLINTON) ENOS [WillsNC G:183 in CalenNC 43],
was born 17 Jan 1714 in New Castle [Trinity 219] and died between 14 Oct 1776 [Will] and
8 Jan 1782 [ProbNC L:259; see CalenNC 97] [AncesRef: Scharf 1:213, CalenNC 43].
He married Jane STORIE 29 Nov 1749 in New Castle [MarrC].
Jane, of unk ancestry, died bef 29 Nov 1784 [ProbNC M:68].
JANE ______ , of unk ancestry, died c1786 [DeedsNC M1:23]. She was the widow
of ______ DUKE.

married second James SALMON aft c1820 [CenNC 69; DeedsNC V5:66]. In Jan 1818, Rebecca made
provision to free two mulatto slaves: Thomas GOLDSBORO born c1805 and Betsy BRYAN born c1810
[DeedsNC S3:325; F2:254].
